School Age (License #L4446)

Murphy’s Community Centre is pleased to offer a School Age and Summer Camp Program under the direction of Patrick MacDonald.

This program is centrally located in the heart of historic Charlottetown and ensures that working parents are provided with quality year round child care for their school aged children (ages five to twelve).

Murphy’s School Age and Summer Day Camp programs are built to encourage growth of mind, body, and spirit. Any child who is registered with us will receive a well rounded, high quality program that promotes team play and encourages individual expression.

The Centre offers a full day program, 7:30am-6pm, during parent/teacher interview days, professional development days, storm days, Christmas break, March break and summer vacation.

Youth Bowling

Youth Bowling operates on Saturday mornings from mid September to early May. The four age groups are as follows:

  • Smurfs - Not 6 years of age as of Dec.31/11
  • Bantams - Not 11 years of age as of Dec. 31/11
  • Juniors - Not 14 years of age as of Dec. 31/11
  • Seniors - Not 19 years of age as of Dec. 31/11
Family Yoga Classes

Murphy's Family Yoga Classes will start Sunday, January 29th in the gymnasium from 1:30-2:30pm.

Cost for the class is $5.00 per family drop in fee. Doors will open for the program at 1:15pm and space is limited.

Please note minimum age for the family program is 5 years old.

Please bring a yoga mat if you have one and if not than there will be a limited number of yoga mats available to rent for $2.00 each.

Class will be lead by certified yoga instructor Jennifer Reed.

Charlottetown Teen Zone

The City of Charlottetown and Murphy's Community Centre have entered into an agreement to develop and operate a teen centre pilot project called the "Charlottetown Teen Zone" to be located at Murphy's Community Centre.

The objective of the teen centre is to help address the overall needs of Charlottetown youth ages 12 to 18 years old, through offering the necessary programs and services. Murphy's Community Centre will operate the "Charlottetown Teen Zone" with financial assistance from the City of Charlottetown, and advisory input from the Charlottetown Youth Advisory Board.

Hours of operation are Tuesday to Friday, 3-9pm & Saturday 1-7pm.

Winter Children's Sports Programs

First Kickers Soccer Program: (We ask for the direct involvement of Moms and Dads.)

Group: Boys and Girls Ages 1-2 + Parent

Sessions: 10 total (2 blocks)

Times 9-10am, Cost is only $40.00 per child for 10 weeks of fitness & fun!

1st Block: Saturday January 21,28; February 4,11,18

2nd Block: Saturday, February 25; March 3,10,17,24 

Murphy's March Break Camps

Space is limited for our March Break Camps, so register early!

Multi-Sport Camp: Boys & Girls Ages 6-15, March 19-23 (9am-4pm)

Over the course of the week, kids will play ball hockey, soccer, volleyball, basketball, bowling and various other sports to keep them healthy and active.

Full Day Fees: Early Registration $99.99 (by March 9th, 2012), After March 9th, 2012 the registration fee is $110.00

Half Day Fee: $75.00

Soccer Camp: Boys & Girls Ages 6-15, March 19-23 (9am-4pm)

If your child already loves soccer or has a keen interest to learn more or improve, this program will be perfect for them! Technical sessions with the Soccer Program allows for the complete development of the player using "Futsal" as the key component, and adopting the skill learned through the "Coerver Series of Coaching".

Full Day Fees: Early Registration $115.00 (by March 9th, 2012); After March 9th, 2012 the registration fee is $130.00.

Half Day Fee: $85.00

The Soccer Academy

The Academy program allows for the complete development of the player using "Futsal" as the key component, and adopting the skill learned throught the "Coerver Series of Coaching".

Group 1: Boys & Girls Ages 10 & Under (8 sessions); 1-2:30pm

Saturday: January 21, 28; February 4,11,18,25; March 3,10

Group 2: Boys & Girls Ages 11-15 (8 sessions); 1-2:30pm

Saturday: January 21,28; February 4,11,18,25; March 3,10

Kids Kix Soccer

This is a great opportunity for boys and girls to get started insoccer! Children will learn the basic body movemnet exercises - jumping, running, hopping, hand eye coordination and balancing, all to provide the necessary tools to play soccer. By playing small soccer games and obstacle courses, kids experience the joy that physical fitness and soccer can provide.

Group 1: Boys & Girls Ages 3-5 (10 Sessions - 2 Blocks) 10-11am

1sr Block: Saturday, January 21,28; February 4,11,18

2nd Block: Saturday, February 25; March 3,10,17,24

Group 2: Boys & Girsl Ages 6-8 (10 Sessions - 2 Blocks) 10-11am

1st Block: Saturday, January 21,28; February 4,11,19

2nd Block: Saturday, February 25; March 3,10,17,24

Effective Jan. 4, 2012 there has been 2 new times added for Kids Kix 3-5 & 6-8 year olds, 11am-12pm.
