After School Programs & Youth Camps
Our Commitment: To provide quality educational services with Certified School Age Childcare staff. To be aware of each child’s individuality and to offer physical, social and emotional development that both challenges and nurtures the child at their present stage of development.
Murphy’s Community Centre offers programs centrally located in the heart of Charlottetown. We are providing working parents/guardians with year around child care for their school age children (ages 5 to 12). Under the direction of the School Age Program Manager, our programs are built to encourage growth of mind, body and spirit. Any child who is registered with us will receive a well rounded, high quality program that promotes team play and encourages individual expression.
The Centre offers a full day program (7:30 to 6:00pm) to parents during professional development days, parent/teacher interviews days, most storm days, and with Camps over Christmas Break, March Break and Summer vacation.
After School Programs
Murphy’s Community Centre and CHANCES are two of Prince Edward Island’s leading non-profits offering programs for children. MCC and CHANCES have now partnered to offer two programs for children that will be operated out of the Centre.

Charlottetown Teen Zone
The Teen Zone is a partnership between the City of Charlottetown and Murphy’s Pharmacies for local youth in and around the Charlottetown area; it provides a safe environment for teenagers 12-18 years of age. Youth are able to access the program during the school year from Monday 3pm – 6pm and Tuesday – Friday 3pm to 9pm and Professional Development days 9am to 5pm, School holidays 12pm to 8pm. For safety of the youth, they do sign in and out, but are able to leave the building as they wish. There is an average of 2 to 3 staff on site when the program is open.
Our new space is located on the top floor of Murphy’s Community Centre and has access to computers, Xbox One, Wii, Pool Table, Foosball, Bowling, a full kitchen and more! Want to learn a new musical instrument? Or need help with homework or studying for that next exam? If need, somewhere to go, or if you someone to talk to? We have programming planned for each day. Monday is Music and Arts, Tuesday is Life Skills and from 6pm-9pm is Guys Night, Wednesday is Cooking Classes from 4pm – 5pm and Girls Night from 6pm-9pm, Thursday is Movie Night, and Friday is Gym and Adventure Night.
